Confession time, I have never been to sleep away camp before.
A lot of my friends have talked to about memories from church camp. One of my favorite movies growing up was Camp Nowhere (if you've never watched it, go do that now) and one of my favorite TV shows was Salute Your Shorts. So I have always been jealous of people with that experience.
Who knows, though, I probably would have been the kid who wrote her parents every day asking them to come home.
Last week, I had the privilege of being part of the pilot program for the Alabama Technology Integration Mentor Camp. It was a three-day camp in Auburn sponsored by Alabama Technology in Motion (ATiM) and East Alabama Regional In-Service Center (EARIC). This camp did not involve kayaks or bunk beds, but it was fun nonetheless.
We spent the first two days learning and I MEAN LEARNING. We had amazing presenters who taught us everything from web design to creating professional development surveys. I was exhausted by the end of those two days.
On the third day, we got to utilize what we learned and create. That is how this website came about. There were some great presentations on that third day from other campers. This shows me that Alabama is filled with innovative educators!
It was the most intense professional development I've ever been apart of, but I learned so much and cannot wait to share it with my faculty and staff at TES.
Now, time to enjoy a little bit of summer.
